Overview

 

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)’s view on cancer is that the seed of cancer is in every human body, and the occurrence of cancer depends on the body’s susceptibility. Different cancers can occur in different human constitutions.

 

In modern medicine, there are many types of cancer treatments, and most people have a combination of treatments, such as surgery with chemotherapy, and/or radiation therapy. Other options are immunotherapy, targeted therapy or hormone therapy.

 

 

Side effects of modern conventional treatments:

 

  • Chemotherapy:  fatigue, pain, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, hair loss, a low white blood cell count, depression, etc.

 

  • Radiation Therapy:  skin problems such as dryness, itchiness, blistering, or peeling, dry mouth, difficulty swallowing, mouth and gum sores, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

 

  • Targeted Therapy: skin problems such as rash, allergy, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, mouth sores, shortness of breath or trouble breathing, fatigue, headache, swelling hands and feet, low blood cell counts

 

While modern science and medicine focus on attacking the cancer cells, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) focuses on strengthening the defense mechanisms by changing the body’s constitution and eliminating the cancer growth environment.

In May 2011, I was diagnosed with liver and stomach cancer. Immediately after, I had surgeries which removed half of my stomach and a small part of my liver.  In September 2014, my liver started to hurt again.  My cancer came back and spread to my lungs. I took harsh cancer medicine in attempt to extend my life.

 

By the end of October, I was overwhelmed with discomfort, my stomach was in constant pain, my chest felt congested, I had ongoing nausea and lost a lot of weight.  My doctor was ready to send me to hospice care.
